I was recently invited to attend a Women's Day celebration event called Diva's Unite to be held at the Cape Town City Hall and home of the Cape Town Symphony Orchestra.
I was overjoyed and could not wait to take my dearest 'mumsy' along, to celebrate the first of what is deemed to be an annual event which is not to be missed!

The Grand Old Dame know as City Hall was decked out with the prettiest of lighting and the architecture was a tribute to years gone by (and sadly in need of a little restoration), be that as it may it was a breathtaking entrance of purple and old world sophistication ...
How gorgeous is the table centerpiece, the mirror just makes it magical ...
After all the necessaries were done , you know the flashing of tickets and cursory branded banner wall (and yes, I did avoid having my photo taken #sorrynotsorry)
The sponsors of the event were Infinity Cars , Frey Chocolates , Pongracz , and Butlers Pizza with a portion of the tickets going to Project Flamingo.
The stage was set and as Katlego Maboe said no filters are required , it was just plain gorgeous and super dramatic...
Let the show begin!
The show was an eclectic mix of South African Diva's old and new , crossing cultures , genres and color barriers alike. It was a truly refreshing line up which did not disappoint and left many of us longing for more longer after the proverbial curtain had fallen.

First up on the first half of the programme was Sterling EQ ,  a talented instrumental pop group of 3 super talented young ladies , playing Asturias (Leyenda).

Next up was a trio of 3 power houses of the classical music industry namely Magdalene Minaar , Noluvuyiso Mpofu and Zanne Stapelberg singing 'I Feel Pretty' from the infamous West Side Story.
A performance that truly stood out for me was Sempre Libera as sung by Noluvuyiso Mpofu it was truly breathtaking and got her a standing ovation.
I must say I was also fascinated once again by the versatility of Sterling EQ and do these girls have gorgeous figures or what?

This pint sized Diva can get a room swaying no matter where she is and Cape Town City Hall soon fell victim to her catchy lyrics, quirky style and gorgeous personality , it was none other than Zolani Mahola of 'Freshly Ground' singing 'I'd Like' .... loved it!
Next up was multi award winning Kim Kallie who still sings like a Diva straight out of the musicals of old, singing 'Cry me a River'. I find it so sad that the old Gilbert and Sullivan musicals are dying out along with the infamous icons such as Liza Minnelli ...
but our own Judy Page is still going strong and could give Liza Minnelli a run for her money any day, it was an honor and a privilege to see Judy Page still performing and holding a note better than ever.
The show continued to wow but I need to mention how amazing the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra was on the day.
Another stand out performance for me was when Zolani sang with the Sans Souci Girls High Choir , they are part of the 'Hear our hearts ,feel our minds' project that empowers and mentors young women through music. A truly phenomenal performance!
The Grande Finale was a rendition of 'We are the world' by all the performers with another standing ovation.

It was a truly amazing experience with champagne , cupcakes and chocolate truffles by Frey at interval. If you do one thing today, put this event in your diary for next year as it can only get better and better!

The event is the inspired vision Barbara Lenhard, thank you to all involved for a fantastic Women's Day.
