Weekened are always rushed and pressed for time , you know .... so much to do and so little time! Well this weekend I was lucky enough to be spoilt and take some time out.

I got to visit The Laser Beautique salon in Sea Point for some quiet time , beautification and rejuvenation ...
THE LASER BEAUTIQUE itself is situated on the 3rd floor of the Galleria Shopping Centre off Regent Road in Sea Point , it is also contained within BUC Fitness Club.
(yes we got lost and ended up walking a mile and a half)

Scheduled for the day was a Shellac Nails application , this is a type of 'gel nail' system. The system includes colour and can be extended as far as fun and funky nail art too.

As you all know by now , I still do therapy myself and had four pedicures booked for later that day (bad planning), so I had mumsy stand in for the nail application.

Our therapist Jessica is also one of the owner's of The Laser Beautique Seapoint. Jessica immediately sprung to work at transforming mumsy's hands to prettiness ... mumsy only wears red and so red she got.

The SHELLAC nail system cures under a UV Lamp, and so with each stage mumsy had to slide her hand into a lamp which has it's own sensor and automatically switched on and off.
As with any nail system part of the treatment is ensuring the nails and nail plate are clean , clear and free of any debris for the best application.
This system is effective and popular with Jessica's client base , however they do also offer the LCN nail system which is Jessica's preferred system.
Of course the nail cream addict in me spotted these super cute hand creams which form part of the LCN 'Spring Collection', mumsy spoilt me with one ...see that last white tube ...it's mine all mine and it's fragrance is Apple & Pear which although it's quite sweet is not heady or overpowering. ( they retail at ZAR 250.00)
Here are mumsy's super pretty red SHELLAC nails which should last two weeks.
After the lovely hand pampering it was my turn , I had chosen a treatment in advance that I have never experienced before called ...

'NIR stands for Near Infra-Red. This is the type of light emitted during your skin tightening treatment. The treatment uses a safe infrared light that heats the skin and the tissue immediately under the skin’s surface. The heat produced during the treatment stimulates the infiltration of fibroblast and the formation of new collagen, while also tightening the existingbundles of collagen and elastin in the skin. This “double” stimulation both thickens and tightens the skin, strengthening the natural “scaffold” that gives our skin structure. This not only improves the skins appearance now, but also helps to bolster the skin against future aging. The presence of healthy collagen in the dermis helps maintain the skin’s youthful resilience and texture.' SOURCE

The treatment rooms for this kind of treatment are more sterile and clinical in nature. Which makes sense considering the treatments are less for relaxation and more for tightening , correcting and very much target specific treatments which require hygienic surroundings and good lighting.
Jessica explained to me how the NIR treatment works , the fact that is indeed a laser and that it works on a much deeper level in the tissue, she explained to me what to expect, demonstrated what the laser head would feel like ... fitted my lead goggles ... and we were off.

The laser head which is moved around over grapseed oil gets progressively warmer, until reaching the optimum setting for your skin (determined by your skin analysis) . Th Laser slowly heating the skin tissue , once it reaches the optimal level it then goes into 'therapeutic mode' and operates at that level for what felt like 5-10minutes.

This is not a relaxing treatment and one is always aware of the laser head which can be quite hard , but I do have to say you could feel the heat penetrating and the stimulation ... but it was never uncomforatable and/or unbearable at all.

Retails at ZAR1100.00 per session
Here you can see post treatment the erythema (redness) of the skin due to the accelerated blood circulation , my skin remained fairly red and stimulated for the rest of the day, the great advantage is that you can apply foundation  after the treatment, so we were good to go back into the public eye ... looking just slightly flushed.

My skin felt good the second day and definitely plumper , however today is the third day after treatment and it feels FANTASTIC!

I would definitely recommend The Laser Beautique.
