1- Please share a little about yourself and what inspired you to create this brand?
I am a Cape Town Based jewelry designer who specialize in making affordably fun jewelry pieces! I started out when I was 18 by just making stuff for myself and friends started asking that I make for them too. Then I went through a dry season of about 5 years not making much and once I was unhappy enough in my corporate job, I started making things at night to release stress! Once I posted my first design on facebook, orders started running in, even from Australia and USA, then it a from of 2 years, here I am, quit my full time job and now made a job out of my hobby!

2 - How would you describe your brand in a nutshell?
My brand is very fun and fresh! Because of my boredom problem, I have so many designs, which make Romeo Foxtrot Designs very versatile to suit any ones taste! I specialize in blinging up girls from baby ages to middle aged women!

3 - What would you consider to be unique about your brand?
The fact that I am a one man show makes it very special. I literally do my own social media, produce every piece myself, everything is unique and I add a lot of love. As soon as I get a copy cat, I don’t even get upset anymore, I just take it as a compliment and start working on a new trend.

4 - How many stores/branches do you have and where are they located?
I currently stock 8 shops in SA! You can find a selection of goodies at Wellness Warehouse Waterfront and the Kloof store, Petticoat Parlor in Greenpoint, Crown & Glory in Durbanville and Periquita SA. Prayerworks, my other brand co owned by my friend Robyn Wilkinson, specializing in Sacred Prayer beads, are available at Show Room in Sea Point, Nap living in Cape Quarter and on their way to Fabulash in JHB.

5 - What ‘piece of advice’ would you most like to share with people considering a start -up business?
I love to say, “do something you love and you will never work a day in your life.” It is so true, I am playing full time with gems and charms! Also believe in your brand, work hard and have fun.

6 - The challenge as a business is to stay authentic and true to your brand, how do you achieve this?
I am constantly expanding, doing interviews, marketing by myself and pushing it out there! It is very important for me to keep my customers happy by always delivering or posting on time, following up on how their product is, forming a relationship with them. If someone requests a piece I don’t make, I will go out of my way to design it the best I can for them! I hate saying “I can’t”.

7 - What do you love most about being an entrepreneur?
Meeting all the lovely people who comes into my life, loving what I create.

8 - What has your journey so far taught you {about yourself or in general}? Has it changed your life in any way?
It changed my life for the better! When I started making jewelry I was in a very bad place. This was my escape route, it was rocky for the first few months, but as my brand grew and I got more creative, my happiness rised with it! Being creative is what makes me tick! I always thought I would never be happy with any job, or in love with what I do! It also led me to meeting the love of my life! He thought I would be the right person to import his mothers jewelry line, Loel & Co from Europe, But I have no idea how all that jazz works! I am an eBay junkie, that’s as much importing as I do! Even though I pretended at first that I would be able to help, I actually just wanted to make out with him! But it ended up finally placing us together! Even though he steps on beads and charms all the time in our home, he is  the best support system I could wish for… And of course my 2 kitties.

9 - How does the future look as far as ‘dreams and visions’ for your brand?
I have such a cool idea for the future! But I can’t tell you yet as NO one is doing it! I just need to be able to fund it! But the latest step I took is Romeo Foxtrot Studio, where I am teaching girls aged between 6 and 14 to make amazing bling in the comfort of their homes with all their friends and they get to keep the jewelry!
