Upon entering this breathtaking tower of glass elegance aptly called THE CRYSTAL TOWERS HOTEL, you are transported to a chic and elegant world where opulence is an understatement. With it's fun yet functional red Velvet setee, unique in it shape and design alone. Beautiful plush chairs and a double sided fireplace are just a few of the many highlights of the foyer and waiting areas, whilst the friendly bell hops greet you with their fabulous brass trolleys ... Whisking you off into a bygone era of sophistication and elegance seen by most only in Hollywood and yet here it is right on our doorstep.

Our stay -

We were welcomed and checked in at Reception , greeted with the first taste of luxury by sipping on a glass of Graham Beck whilst we waited to be escorted to our room. What made this stay an even greater luxury is that I took one of my #bff's Lauren and we had planned a girls night of movies , masks , mani's and pedi's ......yes please!

First came the nonchalance as our concierge showed us around however once she exitedour room at the CRYSTAL TOWERS out came the oooh's and the aaaah's followed by squeals of laughter and many 'dahlings' once we had caught a glimpse of the uber romantic bed setting including 'towel swans', rose petals and gorgeous candle light ..... Really it was gorgeous and the bath was full of fabulous bubbles and rose petals too.

The room itself has a very clean contemporary feel , as you enter you are greeted by the most impressive glass tubular shaped rain shower ( don't worry it is frosted glass , so there is privacy) flanked by pristine white counter tops decked out with the prettiest amenities. This in turn is accompanied by the largest slipper bath you have ever seen ... Pure indulgence.
Poised in front of the bathing areas was the most inviting bed with down duvets and extra soft pillows. The bed was facing a wall made purely of windows overlooking the bay! Table  Mountain and the cityscapes ... It was absolutely breathtaking.

To top off the ultimate luxury was a unique television screen which retracted and appeared at the push of a button from the foot of the bed ...a novel touch to conceal the tv and not interrupt the fabulous sweeping view.

This was hands down the most pleasurable and relaxed luxury dining experience I have had in years. The chairs are high backed Velvet covered arm chairs, in red and black ... Gorgeous, but honestly not the most comfortable for dining.
The food was exceptional , the presentation impeccable and flavors were enough to tantalize the taste buds.

We started off the evening with a lovely cocktail each , Lauren had a Strawberry Daiquiri and I had a Ginger Champagne Cocktail....
For entrees - I had the Tuna Tartare with Avocado and Lauren had the Pork Belly.
Whilst waiting on the next course we received a complimentary California roll (1pc Sushi)
Followed by a fabulous sorbet palette cleanser

For Mains - I had the Rack of Lamb and Lauren had the Beef Fillet

For dessert - I had the Baked Butternut Cheesecake and Vanilla Sorbet , Lauren choose to have Ice-Cream and chocolate sauce (I know but it's all she could fit in)

We were suitably stuffed by the time we were finished and really amazed that 3 hrs had managed to slip by , our waiter was absolutely amazing and the evening was made by his great hospitality and charm.

I was so impressed I requested that the MaƮtre D convey our thanks to the Chef , not two minutes later we greeted by Exec Chef Byron who came to introduce himself and thanks us.
Thank you Chef  for an awesome dinner!

My only criticism would be that the restaurants lighting  did not do the Chefs food any justice was too dark.(even our photo's weren't up to my OCD standard because of the lack of light)

We hired 'Kinky Boots' a fabulous true story British Comedy by the makers of 'Calendar Girls'  we had a good laugh but I must be honest and say that the DVD library is very outdated and very limited ... A bit disappointing for a hotel of this calibre.

Well as far as breakfast buffets go ... This is the 'best ever' you will struggle to find anything that is not here and you can eat as much as you like. We were even graced with the like of Kobus Wiese and his family
( he has 8 eggs in one batch of scrambled eggs ....eeeep! I saw it with my own eyes).

We really had a fabulous stay the Crystal Towers , all the staff were so friendly and helpful. I honestly would urge you take a break and have a #Staycation here for a night or two and live the #CrystalLife ..... Sometimes luxury and relaxation are just outside your doorstep.

Best of all there are often special offers in winter to take advantage of.

Local attractions include :
Walking Distance - Ratanga Junction theme and adventure park , Canal Walk Shopping Centre , numerous restaurants and coffee shops
Within 3 km's - Intaka Island Wild life Sanctuary
Within 30 km's - Victoria & Alfred Waterfront , Cape Town City Bowl , Table Mountain , Signal Hill, Blouberg Beach and Durbanville Winelands

In my opinion if you are looking for an elegant and upmarket hotel that is central and not too far from home , you know 'that place' where you can escape for a weekend and everyone thinks you're out of town .... Go for it , you're worth it!
