Last Friday afternoon started with mixed feelings and here is why?

The shopping centre on main road Greenpoint is alive and bustling as it sits nestled on the sidewalk amidst the frantic energy of the Cape Town city bowl. As I approached Spoilt Hair & Nails I could hear the buzz of the hairdryers arching through the air as they busily transformed the ladies within .

Rather hesitantly I approached the door aiming towards the reception desk, rather in awe of the busyness of the hairdressers who were very much in demand at this hour on a Friday afternoon.
I announced my arrival and am duly escorted to the lovely green waiting chairs in the centre of the room
(such clever use of what would otherwise be wasted space). Immediately I could feel the energy and excitement that exuded within this quaint and well laid out salon.

Joelene greats me with the biggest smile and immediately puts my frazzled nerves at ease ... After all in my world 'a hairdresser is only second to a dentist' ..... Life changing !

Now in Jolene's capable hands, I describe the last six months of disaster and chaos that is my hair. Did I have a 'dream look', yes! I have brought a picture along with me of how I would love to look ( all within reason of course) I think that transforming me to look like Kirsten Dunst is aiming a little high and putting huge expectations on Jolene ... So her hair style will have to do for now (tee hee).

I must say thank you to Gilbert who put us all out of our misery when we could not remember Kirsten Dunst's name aka Spidey's girl.

Together Joelene and I agree to get rid of the bulkiness of my hair, aiming for a much choppier and layered look. At Jolene's recommendation we are going to do a few highlights , a colour shampoo to even out my natural colour ,  at least one shade darker than my hair which Jolene assures me will make my eyes pop!

The highlights are first applied and then the ever capable Warda applies the colour shampoo to the rest of my hair whilst happily chatting away to me. After some time I am moved to the basin areas where a treatment is applied and I am truly Spoilt with the most relaxing head massage ...zzzzzzzz

Whilst sitting have my colour applied, I sat relaxing just listening to the conversations around me.Warda was super entertaining, sharing her love of Cape Town the joy of working at the salon and how the staff are like family, her giggles were contagious and I found myself relaxing and just enjoying my pampering.

After the rinsing off of the treatment Joelene proceeds to cut my hair in a diamond style textured cut , giving me fun and choppy layers which are great for giving defined curls for events or just wearing as they are for a fun and naturally curly look.
I only got to take a photo much later that evening as I left the salon at break neck speed to get to a funtion at the Kelvin Grove. Here I am with 'mumsy' in our Mardi Gras garb for the night.

I had such an amazing time at Spoilt Hair and Nails and it has been a long time since I have walked out of a hair salon not only happy, but super thankful for a hairdresser that understands both of my needs. Colour that is natural and also 'how to' cut curly hair.
