Rain's home-grown, hand-made African luxuries will soon be within reach of discerning customers across North America with the roll out of branded boutiques across the continent.

The proudly South African company has signed an exclusive licensing agreement with major US retailer, Surefoot, to open at least 70 Rain Boutique stores over the next 10 years in selected locations in the United States and Canada. Locations in New York City’s fashionable Upper East Side and in glamorous Santa Monica, California, are being considered for first phase store openings this year. The Manhattan store will be the second in the city where Rain's eye-catching flagship store at the Rockefeller Centre has been delighting New Yorkers since 2010.

Surefoot has long established retail presence throughout the US and brings extensive retail experience to Rains expansion in North America.

Our trans-Atlantic expansion is not only wonderful news for American customers seeking to experience the benefits of the remarkable natural African oils and ingredients in the Rain products and immerse themselves in the soothing, refreshing, fragrant Rain experience, but initially means the creation of up to 100 secure and fairly-paid jobs in South Africa.

Rain is committed to employing the most vulnerable members of society at its labour-intensive production facility in the rural town of Swellendam in the Western Cape – a philosophy that has been embraced by Surefoot.

All the hand-made products available through the American boutiques will be sourced from this factory while some of the emulsions will be supplied by Rain's approved laboratories in the Western Cape, Johannesburg and KwaZulu Natal.

While the American operation is expected to grow Rain's business by as much as 50% in year one, and provide a solid base for international expansion, the Rain team is, nevertheless, determined to match the pace of growth with its commitment to labour intensive, high-quality products made from natural and organic ingredients, many of which are wild harvested from remote areas of southern Africa.

In keeping with its principles, Rain is accredited to both Fair Trade and Beauty Without Cruelty and is a member of Phyto Trade, an association of traders in ethically and sustainably sourced natural materials.
